TFI’s Youth Programs offerings aim to inspire middle and high school students to explore their curiosity for science and develop a STEM identity, and equips students with the tools and knowledge necessary to pursue opportunities in these areas. The Manager of Youth Programs will develop and lead STEM related workshops; support program logistics that include engagement with student participants, families, community-based organizations, and workshop educators; provide general program support; and support any other programmatic offerings and events.

Manage daily operations of STEM Scholars Program Develop and oversee workshop lesson planning and implementation that may include lab-based experiences:
- Develop and oversee workshop lesson planning and implementation that may include lab-based experiences.
- Coordinate collaboration with university and industry partners.
- Lead STEM Scholars recruitment.
- Schedule field trips and act as a chaperone.
- Manage yearly STEM Scholars program expenses.
- Support weekly meetings for the STEM Scholars Program, in collaboration with Youth Programs team.
- Coordinate STEM Scholars events including Graduation and Annual Summer Showcase.
Support daily operations of Ambassadors Program in conjunction with Youth Programs team:
- Manage Ambassador recruitment, interviews, and annual reviews.
- Plan and deliver curriculum for youth development programs.
- Run weekly meetings.
- Develop and facilitate yearly new Ambassador training.
- Coordinate Ambassador outreach, including both TFI and external partner events.
Develop and maintain a working relationship with parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community leaders.
Support director in defining yearly program scope, goals, and deliverables for Youth Programs offerings.
Support additional Youth Programs events and programming, including PACTS Support museum floor operations on an occasional basis.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
- Typical work hours are Tuesday – Saturday during the Academic Year (September- June) and Monday – Friday during the Summer (July, August).
- Academic year includes at least one evening per week of program coverage.
- The position is based on site at The Franklin Institute, with the possibility of one remote work day per week.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in education, science-related field, or youth development required.
- Three – five years of experience with program implementation, project management, and community outreach is essential. A familiarity with and passion for science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics is a plus. Strong collaborative, communication, and writing skills are essential.
Required Competencies
- Ability to maintain consistent, positive relationships with students and families a must.
- Knowledge of general STEM topics and related careers.
- Experience interacting with diverse communities, industry and community partners, and university faculty.
- Excellent collaborative and interpersonal communication skills, inside and outside of the museum environment.
- Classroom management and teaching skills, particularly with middle and/or high school students, either in a formal or informal setting.
- Strong written and oral science communication skills.
- Curriculum development and lesson planning skills a plus.
- Database management.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, organize and prioritize, and demonstrate flexibility in dealing with a variety of tasks.
Status: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Salary Range: $60,000 – $65,000
