The Amazon Public Relations team is seeking a driven, detail-oriented, and savvy technology and consumer PR professional for the role of Public Relations Manager, Amazon Dash Cart within the Physical Retail PR team. The person who fills this role will be responsible for owning proactive and reactive PR activities related to the Amazon Dash Cart, a smart shopping cart that makes a quick grocery trip even quicker by allowing you to skip the checkout line.

This role can be located in Seattle, WA; Austin, TX; NYC; LA; or the Washington, D.C. area.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can clearly formulate and communicate PR recommendations and plans to both peers and executives, drive collaborative decisions, and deliver results, including driving positive press coverage focused on the Amazon Dash Cart. They will also be comfortable providing counsel and guidance to a wide variety of counterparts crossing a number of disciplines. Additionally, this role will consistently work with a range of media contacts with a focus on technology, consumer, local, and national business publications. The candidate will have extensive media relations experience pitching technology and consumer news stories on a national scale, a track record of driving positive news cycles and in-depth stories in the technology and consumer spaces, a knack for developing and evolving compelling messaging and narratives, and the ability to manage reactive news cycles as needed.

Job responsibilities

Lead proactive PR announcements, launches, and narratives

Develop and manage relationships with a range of top-tier media contacts, including those with technology, consumer, local, and business focuses

Write and evolve messaging and talking points in a thoughtful and strategic way

Develop strategy and drive execution of high-visibility speaking opportunities and awards

Build and execute PR plans, including communicating plans internally and securing leadership approvals

Drive proactive technology-forward storytelling efforts

Successfully manage complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges, both proactively and reactively

Willingness to represent Amazon as a spokesperson

Help manage a third-party agency to support PR activities

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Strong background in technology PR for large companies

Extensive experience in managing technology announcements and related activities

Experience in driving proactive customer reference-focused press coverage

Experience in writing, editing, and evolving clear messaging and plans

The ability to understand and work with complex technical concepts

Very strong attention to detail

Experience executing launches, press events, and speaking engagements

Crisis communications and issues management chops

Strong ability to work in an ambiguous environment and quickly identify solutions to problems

The ability to dive deep on subject matters to provide thoughtful and comprehensive recommendations for a variety of complex situations

Track record of developing creative, effective approaches to difficult communications challenges

The ability to concisely and effectively express your point of view

Combination of in-house and agency PR experience with global reach

Understanding of AP Style

A knack for diplomacy and the confidence to engage and build consensus with leaders at all levels
